Yeah don't put fish in the filter. They go in the tank.You probably mean the filter media. You can use the stuff it comes with, or stuff filter floss in there.

i just put the filters they come with in it the rite size Cs and they just have the activated carbon in them then i run a FX5 in tandem and thats got the amonia remover and biomax and a polish pad and some clermax
i once asked if i could get filters for my 350B w/amonia remover or anything else and i was told no so unless its a DIY job i think ur stuck with activated carbon
