240 gallon tank! 8ftx2ftx2ft with a 50 gallon stump tank gonna get 2 holes drill on both top corners. custom built sump to save money and with a fluval fx5 to pump water back to tank! is that a good idea? or no? or should a rather get a basic pump? i calculate all of this and gonna spend only 700 bucks<---- yes that is the actually price.

I dont know why you would use the fx5 to pump water back to the tank unless you were planning on using the canister because the 50 gallon sump may be too small. Im not sure depending on how you build it, but generally people say a good rule of thumb is 1/3rd the tank volume, or 80 gallons here. If you want to use the canister as extr filtration, go for it, otherwise I would just use a normal pump rated at the proper flow rate for whatever height your tank will be at (depending on how fast you want the flow to be - some people say 10x is what to strive for, others say slower to allow more of a trickle factor - somewhere between 4x and 10x is the right answer).
