I just picked this fish up at the LFS. He is around 10-11" maybe even more as I did not measure before putting him in the tank, and I would say he weighs a good 2-2.5 lbs. Anyway, let me know if you think he is a Hartwegi or what you think he might be if not.

He is super mellow for a CA cichlid, and helps the small fish with the aggressive Pikes in the tank. The weirdest thing is that he and the psittacus are best buddies, almost as though the psittacus is trying to pair with it. I have moved from specifically South American now with this addition and am throwing around the idea of switching the tank over to all CA.

Thanks in advance.

Wow, Lee, the Lee i have bookmarked in my favorites on youtube! Thanks, I believed it as well, hence the purchase. Your tank is kind of my inspiration for transitioning over to CA completely. I am wondering about what to add with this fish. I would love to have some Syspilium, and Argentea. I have seen juveniles that I liked locally and wonder if letting them grow up around this monster would give them a good chance. My tank is 84x24x31" I have a 30 Gallon Sump and an eheim 2260 canister running on this and do weekly 40-50% water changes. I would love your input.
