Okay, here's the deal peeps. I'm writing a Sociology paper based on cartoons from Denmark which depicted pictures of the muslim prophet Muhammad. I'm just gonna copy past the instructions for you guys/gals, and I need atleast 5 of you to answer it up for me okay. :)

Thanks in advance,

Benfica540

http://www.humaneventsonline.com/sarticle.php?id=12146 is the website itself with the cartoons.
The publication of these cartoons led to protests by Danish Muslims, because of deep-seated beliefs that the Prophet Muhammad should never be depicted in any way, for example in drawings or paintings, as this would be disrespectful and therefore an offense to all Muslims. Several of the cartoons made strong statements about the link between the Prophet and terrorism and violence. Keep in mind that many Muslims consider these to be deeply hurtful.

So please keep in mind that my approach is of scientific detachment and not an abasement of Islam.

I know we have a diverse group of people here at MFK. Not to mention a highly intelligent one which is exactly what I need for the survey. :D

What are the perceptions and responses that you in the U.S. and elsewhere have had to these cartoons?
What do you in the U.S. and elsewhere think about these cartoons?
How have people in the U.S. and elsewhere reacted to the controversy surrounding them?
What conclusions can you draw about the aftermath of the showing of the cartoons?

"You need to do a small survey here of five individuals you know, plus yourself, so six people total. Use initials when referring to your five informants, though also identify your relation to them; for ex., a sibling, a friend, a work colleague, etc. Do identify them in terms of social location. Are they male or female, young or old, American citizens/residents or not, etc.?"

If you feel uncomfortable answering anything just PM me please. Read through this thoroughly as well and answer as best you can each question I asked.

Thanks for all of your help once again, this ****'s due tomorrow  and I'm hankering for a very good score. :D

:D

No need to be incredibly philisophocal peeps. Just answer to the best of your ability. Be informed on the topic too, that helps quite a bit ;)

Okay, there's a part there that's confusing, sorry if I confuse anyone. You yourself don't need to go out and ask 5 people, that's my part. :)

I just need to know certain things about you, like your age, sex, where your from, your relation to me, that sort of stuff. :)

I thought that the cartoons , while in bad taste, were no worse than anti-semetic, racist, sexist, anti-catholic, anti-athiest, etc, cartoons that run everyday all over the world. I laso saw that a small fringe group of haters not only took these cartoons, up to two years after publishing, and combined them with others that were from other sources then presented them in trouble spots worldwide nearly simultaniously. In addition interviews have shown that many of the rioters had never even seen the cartoons.
I view the whole thing as a manufactured crisis deliberately manipulating ignorance in order to give an impression that the majority of Muslims support the fanatics.
Not only do I feel this is untrue but I feel that holding a sovreign government that maintains a free press responsible for the opinions of a small portion of those free citizens is incorrect.
If people do not want to be tied to violent acts of terrorism perhaps they should stop burning down embassies and newspaper offices in the name of their faith.
Did the terrorists suceed? If they were attempting to widen the rift between diffwerent faiths and increase predjudice by increasing the misperceptions of others that their faith condones violence and that all muslims are violent, untrustworthy hotheads then unfortunatly they did take a large step in that direction.
Every other faith and belief system currently in exsistence is held up to ridicule by someone, very few groups murder innocents because of it. When was the last time you saw a news bite of Quakers or Jehovah's Witnesses burning down a police station or bombing a school bus?

Can you give me some personal info then guppy, like age, etc

just pm me please :)
