Mods please do not put this in Cichlid forum.......

I have this Green Terror that i rescued from petsmart about 5 months ago and it is not doing well again......HE WILL NOT EAT:banhim:

I have tried everything....He just wont eat.......Minnows, krill, market shrimp, frozen shinners, BLD worms, earth worms, salamanders(i forget which kind they are but they are not poisenous to fish...),frogs, tadpoles, live shrimp, crickets.......What could be wrong???

Hes deffinetly a lil stressed because of this not eating but other than that he is a agressor in the tank and has his own little territory behind the filter:nilly:

Help:(

Cut back on the lights and try some good flakes. I have beefheart flakes that I use when someone doesn't want to eat. Try some raw garlic.

Are there any tankmates? Could be getting harrased. You're also trying to feed it alot of live (I assume them to be live). If he's stressed, the movement may be shying him away. Try a combination of flake, sinking food (like cichlid crumbles or something fd).

I have tryed alot of pellets...

Tank mats are 1 midas, 1 con, 1 bld parrot, 2 small rapheal cats

all these fish are around 2 inches

He doesnt get harrased at all actually

I can help you here, I think. I just went through this! Is he skinny? White poop? Mine had a very resilient intestinal parasite. He would try to eat but always ended up spitting it back out. I bought mine a few months ago from an LFS up the road from me. Decent place, but they don't quarantine at all.

I've been watching cichlids at pet stores lately and confirming that most seem to come in from the wild with parasites of one sort or another. It's our job to get rid of them. *sigh*
I tried Metronidazole. I tried praziquantel. But it was Piperazine in the food and water that finally did the bug in. My GT barely made it because he wouldn't eat until the worm was dying. He got soooo thin while I was trying different meds, but once I killed the worm, he put the weight back on fast.
If it is a parasite you face, I wish you good fishy luck!
If it is something simpler like a stress factor, I still wish you good fishy luck!

Happy Fishkeeping.

if it is worms, and the fish won't eat, you might need to use levamisole in the water

Exactly like my case It's Hexamita Intestinalis or something like that right?
I tried Metronidazole too.. Didn't work.. what is Piperazine? is it a Generic name or a brand? Where can I get it? How do I use it? Thank you so much...
