kennesaw, ga
im getting my stock finalized in my 125g. my stock so far is
(1) jurupari
(1) fei feng
(1) senegal
(1) delhezi
(1) indo dat
(1) chocolate cichlid
(5) psittacus

i will be keeping only one of the psittacus. they're only 2-3" right now. im fixing to place a rapps order and im going to get 2 more jurupari and a heros atabapo. i want something else but im not sure what. i was thinking either a fenestratus or some other larger colorful cichlid. what do you guys thing?

I'd say your good with what you have since the dat, flagtail, and parrot are all going to get huge. But, if you wanted something else I would go with A. Heckeli or maybe if your lucky a Vieja heterospilus might work out . I would think a fenestratus would terrorize your current fish. This should be an awesome looking tank when they get big!!!

the dat and flagtail are both about 4" and growing SLOW. i may actually put them back in my 55g if everyone else outgrows them. my largest parrot has grown fast in the last month since i moved him to the 125g. he should put on some size quickly.

I wouldn't mix continents personally. Also, I'd trim down the fish a little. The parrots, choc, and jurupari go well together. A fene would probably be far too aggressive for those guys. Perhaps a pike cichlid would be nice (I know Jeff has some great ones now!). The fei fengs would be fine too.

You will also have to watch the water for the parrot (needs to be on the soft side).

Have you seen Scatocephalus's tank on some of the sites? I think he had tank of the month on cichlid-forum.com. Check that out. You could recreate that!

i love Scatocephalus tank over there. thats kinda what im going for, more of a SA thing but then i had to move the dat and bichirs over to the tank

Have you ever looked into Paretroplus menarambo? Rapps used to have some adults of these and they look amazing. I have never kept them but would buy them myself if I had a place for them. I'm almost certain I've seen some tank shots with a guy breeding these that had psittacus and maybe some severums and such in the tank with them. It looked rediculously good. You can probably google and find that picture. Plus they are extremely rare if not already extinct. The madagascar section probably has some info as well.
