I am currently in a debate on whether to stock my 55g tank with a community of cichlids or just have one big cichlid.
I wanna know on some personal experiences and what is the best way to stock a 55g for cichlids for long term?

1) Green Terror w/ maybe convicts
or
2) Convicts,firemouth, schools of tetras,catfish,keyhole cichlid, etc

3) I dont know just give me some great stocking ideas, and i dont want pairs and i dont want to have to upgrade to a bigger tank.

just plz help me stock a great 55g tank, This will be my only tank and I want it to be bada$$

well for a 55g tank for fish to keep in there for life...mmmmmmmmmmmmm........I would say just go for the community setup, do maybe two cons, one firemouth or blue acara, 10 australian rainbows,

if you do decide to do the green terror just be prepared to do water changes and i guess you could keep two cons with him

i would say get one monster fish..
get a jaguar cichlid and when it gets big upgrade!
but 55 will be good for a long time..
i love jags

You could get a JD and have it in there for life...

Or like above said get a few cons or something that would be fun to watch...

I think a JD and 2 convicts (female, they're pretty) would look nice. You would have a pretty big and 2 smaller fish.

I like your schools of tetras idea. You could turn it into a massive small fish community tank :D

A single GT, I like the JD with the cons idea (I have the same thing!). Or what gtbeast said, a larger fish with the schooling fish
