Bongo is my female FH. I noticed today that there's something wrong with her lips, as well as a small wound starting on her 'forehead'. I believe its the result of previous wounds, as I tried to pair her briefly with one of the male Midas not too long ago. I took her out before any real damage was done, and the torn lip and scratched head seemed to heal quickly. But now, it looks like this:

As you can see, her top lip is quite swollen. There's also a little pinkish spot that seems to be protruding from the inside bottom of her top lip. And there's the little pinkish open wound looking spot on her forehead. Any idea on what I should treat her with?

My last flowerhorn developed similar lesions that turned out to be Hole in the Head. Apparently, this happens often in big cichlids when they suffer some kind of prolonged stress.

In my case it was the stress of moving into a new tank, I guess. Yours might've been stressed by the Midas.

Anyway, here's a link to the thread (on another site, hope that's ok) and what I did to solve the problem. http://www.flowerhornusa.com/index.php?showtopic=13786

Basically, I added a lot of salt and cranked the heat for a couple of weeks.
