Ok well yesterday I went to the store with my aquaintance Robert and we got some great deals. He got like an 8" GT with bangin' colors for 15 dollars! Then my friend David gave me some baby fish for free. I think they are Geophagus Brasiliensis. I got 7 for free, and they are 1/4". I didnt have a tank for them, so they are in a guppy bowl. They are only 1/4" so I thought it would be ok. So I tried feeding a 1/4" piece of shrimp pellet and some crushed flake but I didnt see them eat. They look fat tho. So any advise on how I should take care of them? Thanks a lot.

First off, get at least a 10 gallon grow out for them ASAP with a nice sponge filter and a small heater. Make sure to grab some water from the tank that they were previously in and dump it into the 10 gallon. Also, try to use a filter that has been in use. And how big is the guppy bowl? But yeah, get them a proper setup first. :)

I understand. lol. That was just a temporary thing just until I get a little set up for them you know. But wouldnt a 10g be hard for them to find food? I mean there is 7 and they are a 1/4". It doesnt have a filter or a heated but I add a drop or 2 of prime in every 2 days to neutrilize ammonia, if they are even big enough to produce a big enough ammount to hurt them...

Nope...We use 10gallons for fry tanks all the time...One of the other advantages of the venerable sponge filter is that it pulls all of the small food particles to it and holds them on the serface. It never taks fry to figure this out and start crusing the serface of the sponge filter.

YOU ARE STUIPF WHY WOULD U BYE THAT AND WHO FRICKEN CARES IF THEY DONT EAT THEY WILL EAT IF THEY WANT TO

Thanks but that was really rude and Im reporting your post. If you dont like my decision you should leave.

Thanks for the help. I appriciate that advice. I will definatly buy a 10g with a sponge filter. Any other positive advise anyone else has to offer?

Woah dude, calm down...

They should be alright with flakes, I know as adults they are substrate sifters, so they might be picking at pieces of flakes that have fallen to the bottom. If you still have no luck after a day or two, try to go out and get some brine shrimp.
