I grabbed a small Mono the other day and, once I got it home, I noticed a murky film over it's eye. Since then, the film has began to protrude into a kind of cone shape. I can see the healthy eye beneath the layer of film. Could this be from the Scats that it was being held with? I'm hoping it will eventually heal and fall off... Any similar experiences? What can I do? Here's a couple pics.

sorry man. i had a black tetra that developed the same thing. the eyes swelled up and turned black. no medicine worked so i had to put it out of its misery.

The cone shaped thing fell off, but then he started to have white splotches (not ich though) and died. I don't know what was wrong with him. It seems like all the Monos that come in to that LFS have issues...

maybe you could add more salt to keep the rest alive. I know that they need full sea water as adults so it should make them healthier if you make the ank more brackish.

My tank is in the process of a SLOW acclimation from fresh to brackish water, as most of the fish I own were sold in freshwater setups. Juvenile Mono Argentus do just fine in fresh water but, yes, they need almost full marine conditions as adults. The Mono I bought from a different store is doing well and growing quickly. Here are a few pics of my healthy stock...

FTS?

Nice tank, I love the dragon goby and the shark cats are cool as well. how many monos do you have left (I only saw the 1 healthy one) i know that they do better in small groups so if you find any more healthy one in fish stores.

I've been on the lookout for another one, but I'm trying to match size. When I had the two at once, they didn't really stick too close together... Maybe three or more and they would..
