LV Golden Knights!
So in a month I am moving across town and want to know what the best way to do it is.

I have my 360 set up in the new house. It's plumbed and painted, all i really need to do is move it to it's spot and transfer the mag18 from my 240 to the 360.

So I guess my question really is, what is the best way to avoid a minicycle?

I've moved in the past and usually had a bit of cloudy water the first week.

My plan is to move the tank to its spot. Fill it/dechlorinate it with prime, let it sit for a couple days. Then transfer my 2 fx5s from the 240 while keeping the media in a 5 gallon bucket with an aerator during transport. Let that filter for a day. Then move the ceramic rings in my sump, mag 18, and fish over on the next day.

If your beneficial bacteria doesn't have a food source (ammonia) it will die. Don't know how quickly, but it will. I would move everything over at once if possible. A mini cycle really isn't a huge deal, just dose with Prime and do water changes.

Think I might do the 2 fx5s and half the stock and then the sump and the other half.

I think that should be good. I am adding some benificial bacterial supplament to.deal with my,move. U can add that to help boost. Just dont clean anything. Gl

prime will instantly dechlorinate your tank.i would just blast aeration for 2-3hrs and then connect up both the fx5s.this will reduce bacteria being killed during the move.
