well i got a 14" long black aro almost 2 weeks ago now and he hasnt eatin a thing yet, yesterday for the first time he seemed kinda interested in the aro pellets i put in he would go up to them and look at them but he wouldnt even put it in his mouth, so i tried small goldies and rosy reds, same thing after they were in there for about 15 mins he would kinda take interest if they came near him but he would never pursue them an eat them. what could i get him to eat? i have kept over 10 aros in my time owning fish tanks everything from silvers to panda tan yung asains and i have never had this happen to me i need help please any sugestions would be great. sorry the pics are not the greatest

my silver wouldnt eat enything when i got him, i picked up some frozen beefheart and cut it into small chunks, when he swam by i tossed one in front of him and he took it, now he eats anything that floats or stays somewhat suspended towards the top

try crickets.. with garlic guard.. it helps with fish appetite..

BTW.. are u in Canada? cuz i see Asian Arowana...?

yup i live in barrie ontario :) thats my baby green :) i just got a little silver for the tank to and next week on they way im getting in 3 RTG's at 4" with cert's that will be availible to purchase

Not surprising he hasn't eaten yet, keep good water quality and be patent. It could be another week until you have success feeding, you could add some black water extract to help - reducing stress is the whole idea for know. Be careful with the crickets and worms these are like crack for aro's and will be difficult to ween off, however use your discretion. Remember aros, especially the larger guys can go several weeks with out food.

Best of luck

this is what i did with my new aros. i cut small pieces of market prawns n drop them right in front of the aro.make sure the aro sees it. he might ignore it the first time. take out all the shrimp. try again later in the evening and again in the night. i did this for a day and the next day my aros started eating. this might help you, i hope your aro starts eating
