I just added two black ghost knife fish to my 55 gallon that already contained one black ghost knife. The two new guys are getting along just fine but the old-timer is fighting with them both. Anybody have any suggestions as to how I can make them all friends??

play a happy song haha jokes just gotta wait it out eventually they'll be fine

:iagree: probably the veteran bgk in the tank will probably kill them both. Or the two new bgk team up and kill the old timer.

:iagree: There are very few occasions that even a pair of BGKs will get along. They are highly territorial and sensing the electrical impulses of other BGK will mess with it. Therefore, it'll find the source and eliminate it. Best thing to do is return the other guys or get another tank.

I disagree. They are very territorial with regarding to their houses/caves. The OP just need to make/create another cave/hiding place for the new black ghosts. I have six black ghosts and 4 elephants noses in my tank and they were not bought all at once. They might chase each other at first but giving a few days they will get along just fine.

how big are your knives and how big is the tank?

They are territorial, usually its best just to keep one unless you have a monster tank. An easy way to get out of this is by just building a couple more caves and hope they each take their own and dont fight over any. Also if the water temp is too high it will make them more aggressive, try putting it as low as possible to reduce agression.
