Today, I got a Vieja Argentea cichlid and my flowerhorn cichlid beat the living **** out of him so I put the Vieja with my 4 inch dempsey, the dempsey was beating him to so I tried to catch the Vieja on accident one of the big heavy rocks tipped over and slammed onto my dempsey and broke the divider so I got the vieja and returned him, to get a new divider...When I came back my dempsey's lip was torn open and had alot of skin hanging off of it. What can I do? what medicine should I get to help it heal? The flowerhorn was picking on him like crazy, thank god I had the divider... please comment the employee's at petsmart had nothing there?
Help my dempsey is badly hurt.......

is it completely torn off? or just the edging of the lip hurt? can you get pick? FH for the most part CANNOT be kept with other fish, and young argenteas are pansies so no wonder the poor thing got beat up, you said the rock hit the dempsey as well? did it fall on him or what? def turn off the lights for now and add some melafix or salt

if the lip is torn away i dont think it will heal. the fish will do fine and eat fine but you will always see the torn lip. ive caught fish with partial lips due to anglers cutting part away to get there hooks out.
