Several of my fish have a gold like dust complely covering the outside of thier bodies. My Oscar has been very sick for several days, but I thought it was bloat.

Can someone identify the gold dust disease, and recommend what I should do, including disposing of the diseased fish if necessary. Not all of them have it yet.

Here are some very poor pictures that may help.

Thanks!

I am very sure it is ich.
I looked on Wikipedia and there is a picture of a cichlid with the exact same thing.

I ran to Petsmart and got some salt and malacite green. The guy there said he also feeds/adds crushed garlic to help protect the fish's coat. I also ran the temp up to 84 as recommended on Wikipedia. I will continue the treatment process and see what happens.

Thanks for the help!

Just Bump the temp to 88 degrees and add the salt.

increase temperature, add salt, add coppersafe...and results will show in a matter of days

This is what I am doing.

I did have to dispose of some of them. It was unbelievable how bad they were. My remaining fish only have a mild case and some have nothing visible.

Thanks!
