So i've had my midas (Gilbert) for about 2.5 weeks now and he hasn't eaten anything.

After i picked him up, and put him in the tank, he got a serious case of ich and then a bacteria infection and looked horrible. I raised the temperature to 88 degrees, put aquarium salt in the tank, did a water change every 3 days, and after 2 weeks, he looks healthy again. But the thing is, he hasn't eaten anything at all. everyday after work, i put 10 hikari cichlid gold pellets in his tank (his previous owner told me that was his favorite food). But he just looks at them and never eats them.

As I was typing this message, he took a gulp of the pellets! anyways, my question is, how do i get him to get his appetite back!

here are some pictures of when i got him, when he got sick, and a picture i took a few minutes ago. (in that order)

allthough ive never tried it, people say that garlic in the food works for appetite.
how long have you had him>?

over 2 weeks now. he's my favorite fish. when he got sick, i was devastated. Now that he's eating a few pellets here and there, i'm relieved.

another question is, he's got little holes on his face, is this normal or is he malnourished in some essential fish vitamins? i'll take a better pic of his face, he's white, so it's hard to see.

I only ever raise to 83..... it looks like hith, useually from lack of clean water... keep up on w/c and I hear it can go away. Good luck.

If you've only had him for 2.5 weeks and he's still healing from a heavy ick infestation it's not uncommon for his appatite to be off. The fact that he started eating is a sign things are getting back to normal. Keep the temp at 82 and he should be fine in another week or two tops.

The HITH like looks scarring from and old infestation. Keep up with the 50% weekly water changes and vacuming. Keep the tank clean and you should have no issues.
