Here is a little tank info PH7.2 AMM.0, Nitrite0, Nitrate10ppm in a 120gallon. I have tried various fillets and pellets. Trying to stay away from live food. Any help is greatly appreciated.
when i had mine it took about a week to get him to eat...he finally started eating blood worms and then got him on pellets...to get him on pellets i would put frozen blood worms in a cup of the tanks water to melt them and then put pellets in with them and pour it all in at once. how big is he?
When I had mine, they did this as well, refusing to eat for the first 2 weeks. It is a pretty common issue with this species; just keep offering food every few days and be sure to remove any that isn't eaten after about 15 minutes.
Mine did the same thing. Didnt eat for the first week or so. But even when he did start eating he wouldnt touch anything that wasnt moving most of the time.
He is only about 6-7in right now, I am slowly stocking my monster grow out tank his only other tankmate is a silver arro.
I just saw him eat a chunk of tillapia fillet that i missed cleaning out of the gravel. So it looks like he is on the right track. I will for sure be weening him on to pellets in the near future. Thanks everyone.
I have 2 lima shovelnose. I've had one for 2 months, and the other for just a month. The newer one refuses to eat pellets. Only eats live. However, I only feed him once a week (The only fish that wont eat pellets) to encourage him to eat but he won't. I guess you gotta just wait.
