ok about 3 days ago i noticed my 13 inch o.b. acting a lil strange, he is just layin on the bottom in the rear corner of my tank. so the last couple of days i have been watchin him closely. he seems to be breathing very slowly and has only moved a couple of inches all day. he's just not himself he is usually very active. i do 35% weekly water changes and have done all the water testing everything is fine. its hard to tell if he's eating or not due to the fact he eats only after the lights are off. his color looks fine also. i really could use some help he's my favorite fish. oh yeah he's only about ayear and a half old..........

wot did you feed you ornate normally?mine would go for days without eating or sometimes weeks when I first got them. But soon or later they start to get used to bloodworms and pellets. My ornates didnt move that much either they normally active at nights. If everything is fine with your ornates, then they probably just doin their time and nothin wrong with them.
Are there any tankmates in the tank?what size is your ornate?I keep my tank bare bottom, so they have no where to hide from me eversince they are small, and so far they act and eat as usual.

his tankmates are a 7 inch p-bass and a 6inch nic cichlid along with some plecos, today he is losing his color and has a lump about 2 inches behind his head. he normally is alot more active than he is even during the day...i know theres a problem but what?

man, bichirs have a tendency to be hyper active for days on end and then suddenly the next time you see them they are like dead, not moving at all lying at the bottom motionless just going from time to time to the surface for air. i always see these behavior in my bichirs, especially my sens and ornates.

Please take pics of that ornate as you said you have some plecos in there. It could be the plecos are harassing the bichirs by sucking it slime during lights out.
