I noticed today that my lil guy has 2 small holes in his head. So I am pretty sure that is the HIH that everyone talks about, but how can I help him out. Am I gonna lose him? Please help me if you can let me know what to do.:(

if it is HITH, having good water quality and very frequent water changes are the key to stopping it from getting worse

thats a good idea to do all the time anyway, clean water and a good quality diet n your half way there

Get a liquid test tube kit and make double sure your nitrates are below 20. While healing I'd keep them below 10 ppm in all honesty. Ammonia/nitries need to be '0' obviously. Feed a good varied diet and keep him in a tank where he gets a bare minimum of 55 gal to himself, preferably more. There's a lot of misconceptions and opinions about HITH. When it comes down to it the majority of cases are due to sub-optimal water quality (mainly high nitrates) and not enough variation in their diet. Vitamins would be good, too.
Get a lot of opinions but do your own homework, too.

your not going to lose him, but, water changes, water changes, water changes.... add salt, to recoat his body with slime...and feed vary of food...meat pellets and veggie pellets. hope he'll be alright.

Do plenty of water changes, and keep adding salt.
