Fairly new to the forum so no one fame me.

I have an oscar, I love my fish and I try really hard to take care of her

Lately she has been displaying strange behavior, it almost looks like she is itchy and tries to scratch herself on the bottom of the tank, She just brushes up her side against the gravel.

Is this the dreaded hole in the head ? or some other parasite, she seems pretty happy go lucky otherwise.

thanks for the support

i dont think its ich. No white spots. she has been acting this way for a few days now too. Wouldnt the spots have turned up by now? Should i ad some ich cure stuff anyway to help protect her ?

she is about 6 inches long now, Still in a 20g long tank. I know i know, I have a 50 gal for her but havent had time to set it up yet. I know she needs a bigger home.

I feed her pellets and beefheart on occasion. if that helps..

My oscar will on occasion scratch up against the sand.

It could be the start of something. In that small tank, what have you been using for filtration? How is the water parameters, could be a build up of something harmful.

i have a 20gal biowheel filter and a 20gal aqua clear filter, its heated as well, and the water levels seem normal. however i have not gravel vaced it in a bit. Tank is clear too.

is it possible she is just...itchy? lol or just playing around with the gravel? She kicks around the ping pong ball i put in the tank.

very playful/happy fish..
