Ive got 3 marbles about 12 inchers. had m about 3 weeks. the last couple days my male has started breathing real heavy n refusing food. hell hover over the food n kinda mess with it with his mouth but never eat any of it.

water params are:
temp 82F
0 ammon
0 nitrite
40ppm nitrate (theres ammonia in my city water so it never really gets lower than this

I just dumped in about 2 cups of salt (its a 75gal... i know its small... the 220 is cycled i just need to get heaters for it n they will be ready to move)

any other suggestions?

There may not be enough airation in the tank or it could be stressed by something. Are your rays very active? What are the tankmates? Have you changed or added anything lately?

theres a small armatus n a small zungaro cat in there too... i dont have airpumps running but i have a lot of flow at the surface. there should be plenty of airation... but ill buy an air pump tomorow.. it cant hurt...

tank is hugely overstocked. ph will be swinging up and down. water changes twice a day. 20 to 30 percent.

are they lifting the front of their discs up and down slowly off the substrate? if so it is ph shift.

you have cycled the other tank without heaters? filter bacteria are affected by temperature. so you should cycle at the temp you are going to run it at. the bacteria responsible for breaking down nitrite are especially sensitive to water parameter changes!
what temp is the 220?
i personally would just put the heaters in the 220 and move the rays and the filters over as soon as the tank is at temp. then twice daily water changes for a few weeks till the tank is stable.
