Not at all man. Clean em up and toss em in. Only thing that really affects params is organics (coral, wood). Fill a bucket with a bleach solution and soak them for an hour or so, then fill the same bucket with water and aquarium declhorinator and soak em for an hour or so, and then they're safe.

Shouldn't. I just put mine in really hot water for a few minutes then run under cold so you don't put a very hot rock in your tank lol I've had 50 or so rocks in my tank with everything from fry to eels

If you're nervous about them effecting your water parameters, you can always test them.

1) Try dripping some acid on them (distilled vinegar sometimes does the trick). If they fizz and bubble, they may have effects on your water parameters (likely effects could include hardening of the water)

2) Record water parameters of a bucket of water. Drop rocks in and let it sit for a few days. Re-test water parameters. If the parameters have shifted, the rocks are likely shifting the water parameters.

Note: Do these tests with CLEAN rocks. If you have not cleaned them, deposits and junk on the rocks could be effecting the results of the tests.

Thanks man!

Np. Should give you some comfort knowing those rocks won't mess up your water parameters. I've got a lot of limestone and other soft rock types around me, and some of them will shift my water parameters. So I test mine. It's quick and easy to test.....not so quick and easy to nurse sick/stressed fish or deal with dead livestock.

Those look like they are being used as a border to a flower garden? I would be more worried about what fertilizers and pesticides have been used in the vicinity than anything else in this case. Why not take a run down to the local creek or lakeshore and do some rock picking there?

Burt :)
