Hi guys and gals....
I just purchase a 120 gallon tank with a metal stand 4 ft x 2 ft x 28 inches and I was just wonderin if anybody can give me ideas on how to make the metal stand look like cabinet....I've seen a few pics of the internet of guys who made a wood skirt around the metal stand to make it look like a cabinet...the reason why I bought a metal stand as it is way cheaper than buying a stand cabinet for this tank the difference is close to $170....also I would like to make a canopy too....thanks guys any advice or idea is greatly appreciated.....

yer going to need plywood, screws, measuring device, a drill, drillbits, hunges, a saw and some paint

measure twice and cut once

for the stand the wood is not going to be structural so just cut it to fit and screw it in place... if you cant figure out how to do that i dont want you using powertools... im not mocking you so please dont get offended.. but if you dont know how to use powertools you could lose a hand or something... if you know how to use them theres a good chance you dont really need a walkthrough on how to do it...

for the canopy build it to slip over the outside of the tank and then put some blocks on the inside so that it rests on the edge of the tank... leave the back open for cords, filters, and whatever else... most people have the front piece and half of the top hunges so they can just open it insted of having to take the whole thing off when its feeding time...

download a program called GOOGLE SKETCHUP. its an amazing free program to give easier ways to design a strong stand.
