There are many varieties from 6"-12" with most growing to around the 10" mark.
The majority of them are semi-aggressive, however kept in a tank of sufficient size they will not predate or kill any other co-inhabitat that is larger than its mouth.

I have two Leucosticta, 7"and 9" respectively, two Daemon, 8" and 10" respectively and five Tapajos, all about 3-4". They are in with goldfish of the same size and a Koi that is pushing 10". I just got 5, 1" Clown Loaches and the Geos could all care less. I have had these fish for a while and am very pleased with their temperment....of course I am used to Oscars and African rift lake cichlids....anyway, very cool fish Geos.
