:nilly: Hello ... I have a 300 freshwater tank that is getting to small. I want to build a 1500 - 2000 gallon tank to replace it but I don’t know where to start. My tank is a room divider where you can view from 3 sides. I was thinking about a 5 ft tall 4 ft wide 9ft long. I have a number of large dirty fish so my filtration needs to be able to handle it.
I live on a slab so I thought about using a steel frame with large view areas. Any ideas

1 Med Pacu
1 Large channel Cat
1 Med Shovel Nose Cat
1 Baby Red tail Cat
2 Large Oscar’s
2 Large Koi
1 Large Clown Knife
1 Large Jack Dempsey
2 Med Pleco

Welcome to another hoosier! Have you checked the concrete block tank in the DIY section? A 5ft tall tank would be a pain in the ass to maintain and would take some insanely think glass/acrylic. A steel fram would work if you can get the "windows" thick enough.

I want trying to sound rude I was just stating the obvious and I totally agree about going wider not taller taller tanks suck to do maintence on I have them atr all depths from 10" deep all the way up to 40" deep and I think that 30" is plenty deep enough I still get my armpits wet when I do anything in the 30" deep tanks

Go Colts .. 36 in tall 4 ft wide 9ft long using a steel frame. 2ft stand made out of concrete block. A freind told me to buy a acrylic tank and then drill it. Would this be better than using a steel frame? I will check out the DIY projects ..

Are your tanks glass or acrylic? What do you use for filtration? Should I buy a tank all ready together or build it?
