I will go trout fishing tomorow early in the morning (alas i have no idea what kind they are!). The first time i fished for trout was 4 years ago and I didnt catch anything I have never caught a trout in my life and I hope to change that.
I have a few basic dry fly patterns and a few wet bass patterns. I think i can get some glow bugs on the way there but we may or may not hit a bass pro shop to get gink and more better wet fly patterns.
These are my questions!
1: If i do get to bass pro what wet and dry flies do i need!!! This may be my last time fly fishing for trout in years and i dont want more then 4 new flies, glo bugs not included i am on a very tight budget!
2: Will i be able to fish dry flies without gink? Candle wax?
Thanks

Without gink your going to have to dry the fly every time after you use it and in between casts.

Pick up some woolly buggers, around sz12-6 seem to be the most effective. Colors you should get are black, brown, and olive. Woolly buggers are one of the best flies ever made, they will catch nearly everything in freshwater and even some saltwater species. They are one of your best bets for trout in lakes and often streams too. Cast it out, let it sink for a bit, and strip it in. Vary the depth and retrieve speed until you start catching fish.

Fish feed primarily subsurface, so while fishing dry flies is often the most entertaining, sinking flies generally are more productive.
