Help needed in choosing tankmate

Presently i have 1 silver aro(13"),2 florida gars(10"),2 oscars(8" & 6") and 1 RTC(10") in my 250g tank. Recently 2 fishes(1 pacu & 1 texas) have died, so i want 2 add some other species in my tank. What should be my best choice?

Also, if I were you I would get rid of all the other fish too. That way you have even more Gar

your best option for starters is choosing between your RTC/oscars and your gars. Cats and cichlids arent the best tankmates with gars. Your gars will have a hard time competing for food. The best tankmates for gars IMO are other gars (except gators), bichirs, clown knives, and other 'primitive' fish. Others may give you better advise but thi is my opinion.

if you're serious about keeping gar, lose all the other tankmates, go with more gar. more florida and tropical are yr best bet

Gars r not common in my area.......after searching 4 almost 1 month i bought my 2 florida gars.........my local pet store didn't see this fish b4......even don't know it's name......can u believe it.......ofcourse i want 2 add some other gars too.......but i think that's not possible........

just remove all other fish and add gar or keep aro with gar ,ur 72x36x22 should be enough space

As others have said you might have issues with the RTC and oscars, and the gar. Bichirs are good gar tankmates...your RTC will outgrow your tank anyway, if you like cats I would try something like a lima shovelnose, or some medium sized cats like 4 line pictus if you can find them.
