HELLO ALL! BEEN FISHKEEPIKNG FOR A QUITE A WHILE. JUST RECENTLY UPGRADED TO THE NEW STYLE, LONG STRIP LIGHTS. THESE LIGHT PUT OUT MUCH MORE LIGHT, LIKE 40WATT. ANYWAYS, I DONT DO REAL PLANTS ONLY ARTIFICIAL. SINCE THE NEW LIGHTS WENT ON MY 55GAL AND 75 GAL. I HAVE BEEN FIGHTING ALGAE GROWTH LIKE CRAZY. EVERY WEEK I HAVE TO SCRUB OFF THE ARTIFICIAL ROCKS AND PLANTS.

WITH THE OLDER LOWER WATT LIGHTS. ALGAE WAS NEVER THIS OVERWHELMING. SO IS THERE ANY WAY TO CONTROL THIS OR MUST IT BE SCRUBING OFF THINGS UNDER WARM WATER-WHEN THEY GET TO COVERED.

ANY TIPS WILL BE APPRIECIATED. EXCEPT FOR LIVE PLANTS. DONT WANT TO MESS WITH THAT. AND MY FISH EAT THEM ALWAYS.:)

OK......first things first...No need to shout, we aren't blind/deaf, take the CapsLock off when typing, you will get very few responses regardless of what your Thread is.

What do you mean by strip lights? Need to be a bit more specific.
How often do you do WC's?
What is your stock list for each tank?
How long have these tanks been set up?

Algae is a natural part of life in the aqua world, you have been fortunate to not have had to deal with it for a while. Really it does meant that you are getting more light for the algae to grow, but that is only part of the chain that algae needs. the nutrients are right fo the algae to take off right now. you can try less feeding for your stock, that will lessen the nutrients for the algae. Otherwise more info is needed for a really good round of troubleshooting for you.
