Hey all, I've recently started keeping fish, and after 1 and a half weeks of keep them, 2 of my fish died all of a sudden. One died for an unknown reason, the other died when I finished changing the water, possibly because I didn't add in the anti chlorine in yet, (But i added in 2 mins after i changed to water, only to realise it was dead)

I'm suspecting that one of my fish, a white spotted juvenile cichlid, has white spots (Ich), but how do I spot the white spots on it if it already has tons of spots on it?

Ich really does look like grains of salt

At this stage it's about the only visual way to tell ich

Fish scraping/rubbing etc is usually the first sign

As for the spots, just look for salt over the fish not just colour spots

Hope that helps

the spots should look slightly 3 dimensional

What size is the tank?
How long was it running before you added the fish? Fully cycled?
How much water did you change?
What was the temp of the new water compared to the tank water when you added it?

Any info could help in figuring out what happened. Hope your next attempt at fish keeping goes better.
