HI,
I've just bought an aqua pro 2 external filter of ebay. It came with a coarse sponge in the bottom basket, and a fine-ish sponge in the top. I've never had an external, and since there are no instructions on how to set it up/what to use as filter media, I was hoping someone would be able to help me out!
cheers

Is it a hang-on-back filter? or a canister?

I googled it: looks like a canister.
What are you using it on? What is in the tank? Do you have any other filters? If this is your only one, you probably need some biomedia.

Yeh it's a canister. Using it on a 4ft tropical with a pair of Ram's, 2 angels (not sure if are a pair), 2 pair guppies, 2 plecs , 1 redtail shark and 3 corys... I've also got an uder gravel running (which is all I was using before I got this - is it worth putting the hose for the external into the existing tube for the undergravel on one side to stop it sucking up fish? Not sure if it will clear debris this way though!)

Cheers

Hi guys, I bought some filter media: peat moss and bioceramic rings. Now I can't get the filter to work. I turned it off to put the media in, but have been trying to get it to work again for the past 3 hours, to no avail. I have air in the pipes, and the water just doesn't seem to be sucking from the inlet, and definetly nothing coming out of the outlet. I've even tried to put the outlet pipe below the filter!...nothing!

Can anyone help? I'm getting pretty tired of sucking the pipe! lol!
Cheers
