:D Looking for more info and pics on Golden Dorado ( Salmon Characin ) It's a beautiful fish that I've been trying to research and have never owned but would like to!!! Does anny one know where it can be purchased. Has anyone ever raised one from young and can tell me about it's habits and compatabilty with other characins. I'd really like to get 2 at about 2-2.5cm big. Any info, referrals and pic would be most appreciated!! Thanks!! :thumbsup:

that fish is nasty.....its been known to grow to huge sizes and they are lightnin fast.....they also haf a nasty temprament
 
I currently have two 13-16" dorados in my 360 gallon tank. I raised them up from 5-7" size to their current size. They eat anything, including pellets, krill, prawns, etc. They school aggressively with seven redtail brycons (Brycon sp.) of the same size. Brycons are tough enough to school with the dorados, as they do so in the wild. However, most other characins are not up to the task and will ultimately end up dead and missing body parts. I tried black bar silver dollars (Myleus schomburgki) and they kept getting beat up. Here's a recent picture of the dorados and brycons schooling:
