Hey all, apologies but need some advice.

About two weeks ago, my aro stopped eating. And kinda of stays stationery in the middle of the tank. Not worrying too much about it as I know aros do stop eating at times, he still takes a couple of pieces of MP from my hand but not his normal appetite.

Anyway, the problem is that he has these spots on his fin and tail. Is this ick? I have upped the salt and turned on the thermometer. Trying to avoid medication unless its really necessary.

Here is a full body shot.

Help please.

Cant see the pics but here is some advise from my experience. Never overfeed them, mine ate to much ruined his swimbladder and became unable to swim right. He then died the next morning. 100% monotor how much he is eating and its better to feel like you are underfeeding then overfeeding.

hi ice.. these are your pics i guess

Hey, thanks for posting my pics.

The tank size is 4ft by 2ft by 2ft. No recent tankmates introduced, no spots on them and they are all as healthy as can be.

There's 5 ctenopomas and 6 bichirs (2 del, 1 sen, 1 palmas, 1 ansorgii, 1 not sure lol) with him.

I do 50-60% wc every week without fail. But the ceramic rings haven't been changed in about a year or so? Sorry can't be absolutely sure. I use a overhead filter system, and about 3 months ago, I did take out all the filter boxes and washed everything, pipes, tubes etc.

Hes fine. My silver aro had spots on his fins just like those. They came from fin damage of some kind. For lack of a better word they seem to be just scar tissue. They may go away over time but not always.
