guys i last week i bought 3 red bellies..the size is 2"-2.5" i dunno how many month's old the rbp's my question is they dont want to eat.what should i do??is there a problem with the aeration?or the temperature?because they dont want to eat but their behavior is normal the only problem to them is THEY DONT WANT TO TOUCH ALL THE FOOD I DROP ON THEIR TANK

dont worry to much bro, they will eventually eat. same thing happen with my reds with i 1st bought them :)

give them some time to settle down in your tank and eventually they will start eating.
what are you feeding them anyway?

bloodworms sometimes i give them my own breed of corydoras..but they dont want to touch the food this is my 1st time to encounter this situation because my 1st batch of reds didnt have the same problem on my new reds the 1st batch of my reds are 6-7" tip to tip btw pics to follow of my new baby reds

btw they are on the different tank i think my filtration is poor quality coz dont have money yet to buy enough filtration system on them i dont want to mix them on my big reds lol..the only filtration system on their tank is undergravel filter harhar is it ok?or not sufficient?and dont have heater on their tank either

What size tank man? Do you have a thermometer? If so, water temp? You probably just pointed out the problem right there. The water parameters

Yeah check your temperature. It might take a little bit for them to be comfortable and eat. Why don't you try and feed them something like silversides or market shrimp that are cut up. I started mine on smelts. Just defrost them in some warm water and drop them in the tank. Leave the room for a while because they probably won't eat with you there.

Starving them may work.. but you have to watch them carefully. Mine always show hunger by beginning to harass one another and nip at eachother. Fin nipping is normal for these guys but mine in particular don't nip until they are really hungry.

also try to add sponge filter to the tank to help with filtration, they should be much cheaper than an other filters and does the job for small fish. all you need is an air pump to power it.

i think i dont need heater on their tank coz were on a tropical country..im from Philippines..their tank size they're on a 50 gal tank..bout harassing each other yep they harassed ea. other by fin nipping and tail nipping but its normal argh im not satisfy bout their situation on that darn tank..coz' piranha's are very hard to find here on our country coz its illegal lol if they die i think it might take months to have a piranha again

Dont force them to eat.. try not to watch them or put the food to the aquarium before going to sleep.. in time they will adjust to your aquarium... i'm also a keeper here in philippines. :nilly:
