my new 8" black is in bad shape, what has started as heater burns on the tail and lower fin now seems to be getting much worse, and he hasnt eaten since the burns first showed up(2 days now), plus now he has slight outward gill curl! temp is at 80f and salt at 1tbps per 5g. hes by himself in a partitioned 100g tank. perams 0,0,10

first pic is the first day i had him, the rest are 2 days after the burns showed up.

could it be fin rot:confused: are the eyes clear?

yes eyes are clear, im worried bout the no eating alot. he was eating like a pig before. ive always noticed that when aro's stop eating its a bad sign.:(

I think you should go ahead and treat with both melafix and primafix for infections, keep you water clean as you can. I think as far as feeding maybe skip a couple days, sometimes if food is not always available it prompts them to eat when food is available.

i dont think hes gonna make it. there is no way that what i thought was some heater burns that started on the fins has turned into severe gill curl, almost every fin on him is gone or basically falling apart, he cant swim at all, and his whole body looks dark with a tinge of blood here and there.

Why is your temp so low???

80 is low? i havent raised it because i dont know whats wrong. whatever this aro has is beyond me and it has progressed from seemingly healthy to this in a matter of days, the lfs only had him in the store for 3 days before i bought it so i think i jumped the gun on buying this guy.
