Hey guys! so i recently have bought myself the most amazing little motoro stingray, and she was doing really well until a few days ago, it appears that she was just stressed and shedding some of the slime on her back, it has now turned into an open wound and gone into her eye, im almost positive shes gonna go blond but thats where id REALLY like it to stop, but the white spots are now showing up in another spot on her side. what can i do?!

We've had the tank set up for about 5 months. Currently there is a Syno Cat fish in there, two spotted gar, and one silver arowana. There used to be a albino pleco but weve since taken him out. We also took the water to our local fish store and they tested the water for us, and said everything was fine.

She also seems to be having trouble breathing out of that side. She was at the top of the tank near the filter so we are starting to think she rubbed up against the filter and scratched at it. What can we do?!

Thanks!

The small spot on the back edge of the disk looks to be signs of disk rot. The spot on the back does look like a heater burn or from a catfish but with the edge of the disk eroding I would definitely treat with Binox (nitrafurazone) for a week. Get the temp up to the low 80s and take out any carbon from your filters. Would be best if you could put her in QT. If that is not an option then you will have to do the whole system. Some add salt up to 4 lbs per 100 gallons when treating with binox and get the temp close to 90. I have had success without going that extreme. I just mentioned that so you can have a guideline on how far you can go and still be safe.
