Hi,
just yesterday I realised that my juvenile oscar was acting weirdly. He's usually very active and the first to grab at food when I feed, however he's just been sitting at the bottom of the tank at a 45 degree angle and not moving. When he does move, he's just floating around instead of swimming and he hasn't eaten anything for 2 days. I've checked and no visible parasites on the skin and my ammonia/nitrite readings are both 0 with nitrates at 20ppm. He also seems to be breathing normally. The other fish in the tank (1 parrot, 1 green terror and 2 polys) are all acting normal and feeding. Can anyone suggest a course of action?

I recently lost a indo datnoid in the same tank, and before he died he was also lying at the bottom of the tank but looked as though he had trouble breathing.

Oscars are funny fish, they tend to just "lounge around", however the fact that he is not accepting food is weird, they stay hungry! lol, what are u feeding them?

it doesn't seem to be ich. I had this happen many times maybe it can be from stress but i don`t see from what fish? Another issue might be theres not enough air circulation or filtration.

if u see white spots, its not normal, ich works by the white spots getting wider and wider eventually suffocating them, i would slowly raise the temp to around 86 degrees and add salt 1-2 teaspoons per gallon for the next 3-4 days

Edit : also note, oxygen levels decrease with higher temperatures, so add an airstone accordingly or better yet a powerhead

My Oscars would lay on the bottom or up against ornaments whenever i startled them. But again Oscars love to eat, usually begging all day for food. Do a check list again of water quality temp and maby try a partial change of water and see if it gets it up and around. If not put a couple feeder fish in,they cant resist chasing them...
