I just found out my oscar chiclid has hole in the head. is that why he/she did not eat his/her goldfish. did the goldfish give him/her hole in the head. I am going to stop feeding him goldfish so he does not get any more dises. but he does not eat his pellets to. I have been giving him a api treatment. that treats hole in the head and a coulple other dises. any tips on what to do. will this treatment help. will he have scars forever if so how do I know he is better thanks. sorry for any misspeled words.

goldfish is definately one of the causes for your oscar to have HITH...when did you start to notice this, and what size is your tank..also is there anythign else incorporated in his diet?
he is in a 55 gallon by himself. I started notice when he started to not eat his pellets. and I feed him omega one medium chiclid pellets. and erthworms and once a week a week I feed him some goldfish

HITH is usually a result from long periods of poor water quality. You should keep up with your tank maintenance by doing water changes every week or two weeks. There are a number of treatments that can cure HITH (Hole(s) In Head). Octozin is one form of treatment that you could try. You should be able to purchase this product at your local fish store. I would suggest you also clean your gravel/substrate really well and do a 30% water change today. Good water conditions are the key to preventing this such disease. You mustn't let your ammonia and nitrite exceed 0 ppm for any length of time otherwise it can cause diseases to your fish. (you can purchase a freshwater test kit to make sure it doesn't get out of control again).
yes if you provide good water quality..and feed him hikari cichlid gold pellets along with the occasional brine shrimp and frozen krill after finishing the medication
I cannot say he will be okay or not, all fish are different. I would immediately go to your local fish store and purchase a product like Octozin or ask an employee what they suggest and use it only as directed and like I said, do a 30% water change and clean the substrate really good. Also keep up with your water changes to prevent it from happening again.
I just did a water change. is it beacuse a lack of vidamin c. my fish food has some vitimin c is that enouf. I tried feeding him oranges but he always spits them out. when my pellets run out should i get omega one chiclid pellets or chiclid gold. Thanks
Treat with Metronidazole. STOP feeding goldfish! Do a large 50%+ water change. Remove any carbon from your filter and do not use it again if you have in the past stop using it. I have to go out to eat I'll check back later.

The brand of pellet food is not really the issue at this point. Just get him on a high quality pellet as a staple ASAP! He will get the needed vitamins from these. And no more goldfish feeders!
There is a lot of debate on tank size for Oscars, but generally its accepted that a stand 55g is too small, and not enough water volume. He really needs at least a 75g. You need to be doing regular weekly water changes or in that 55g probably even more often. You should also have a water test kit, or take samples in to stores that check it for free. This tells you a lot about whats going on in your tank.
