Hello,
I have a 5" Ocellaris in a 100 gal tank. Has been feeding on pellets and goldfish. About 3 days ago, he stopped eating and is swimming around more. Seems ok. No clamped fins. I do regular water changes and try not to over feed. Water test showed higher acid level so I did a 1/2 water change. PH is now 7.0 or so. Anyone have Ideas? I hate to lose him! Thanks in advance.

Update?

Is he eating now?

if you have one cock bass it tends to eat less. the more cock bass you have the more competition there is for food. you get the idea. btw, you can powerfeed him if he eats considering he's not that big right now.

Thanks,
Yes he is eating. I teated him for parasites (not sure if it helped) Temp is 82. I set up a tank for goldfish and quarantine them before feeding. Sometimes he goes a couple of days without eating. Then will gorge himself. He is pretty skiddish around people. Would a tankmate help with that? if so, what species. I'm thinking a scooling species might relax him. Thanks for the help!!

i'd stay away from any use of medication. Just stick with water changes. As far as tank mates goes, I'd get more cock bass. Either that or some mild tempered cichlids that get large. Some WC Rotkeils(redheaded severums) would look great with ocells in your tank.

silver dollars work well as a dither i got just three of them because my bass were fighting alot and after adding the dollas the bass really settled down and arent nearly as skiddish anymore
