I'm in the market for a skimmer for my 75 gallon reef. I have read and read and read some more. Coralife, marineland, seaclone, reef octopus, AquaC... People love them or hate them. I just want solid facts. I've seen the coralife skimmer in action at a few pet shops and it seemed to work great. Reading reviews online its 50/50... Any advice? I'd like to get an HOB.

Im not up the newer skimmers, been happy with my ASM for years now. The HOB that I have seen in use were unimpressive on small tank and I doubt they would be very effective on a 75g. Look into adding a sump/fuge and the older ASM and euroreef skimmers. Hopefully someone can comment on the newer brands. Another thing I have realized is that most skimmers overrate the size tank it will work well on.

I was looking at an HOB Refugium from Foster and Smith. Don't know much about the refugium setups though. What are the benefits?
