I'm going to purchase a 90 gallon tank for some festae that I have and I'm debating between pea gravel and pool filter sand as a substrate. I've had them in tanks over PF sand and 3m black quartz previously. The quartz made them darken up considerably IMO, and the PF sand I had them over is white with a grayish tint. I'm curious to everyone's results color wise( if any) in their fish with festae over pea gravel vs a very bright white PF sand. Thanks

Does anyone have any pictures of this? I'd hate to mix it all together then realize I don't like it afterwards.

Here is a couple of pics of a few of my fish... you can see my sand mixture in the pics... i have around 35% black & 65% white sand.

if you want it darker then add more black, if you want it lighter then add more white

I like that mix, it looks nice. I currently have pool filter sand and a little play sand, but that looks awesome.
