ive been trying but the barbs are long and stiff. i cant get them out and the cat is bigger than his mouth. lol idk how he got him in there

I say this as a last stitch effort and would like not to get flamed for it. but if you feel you cannot get the cat out without killing one or the other fish, you might have to clip the barbs on the catfish in order to get him out.

ya, in these situations its usually save one fish or the other, and its usually the one in the mouth that has to die, just my 2 cents

I concur. Clip the barbs/fins as close to base as possible and gently pull out the way they came in UNLESS they have gone thru pretty far, then cut as high as possible and pull out/push thru exit-wound style- whichever isless traumatic.
KF21 put his best face forward. I'm assuming KF21 is the dad, not the baby girl.

thanks guys. i just clipped the barbs and and hes out and somehow the cats alive although im not expecting him to stay that way. im surprised how hard the barbs were. it was like clipping copper wire.
my pike is breathing heavy and staying on the bottom but hes not trying to hide in his spot which worries me.

temp is now 84F and i added salt.

correct!

all I will add is that you did pretty much the only thing I could think of to do . . . best of luck to you . . .

you can clip and fishes' fins and they will grow back. the biggest trauma to the cat was being bit/stuck in the mouth. if if lived through that...it should make it.

i have seen cats with literally nothing left but nubs lol
