Help please about a Cascade Heater

Hey, everyone i have a cascade heater that was added to the fish tank i bought and i have no idea how it works. Right now im guessing its set to 72 degrees? Which scares me because that might be too cold for my knife fishes and other fishes. So if you can help me how a cascade heater works. Thanks alot.

You submerge it in the tank and turn the dial to the desired temperature

If your not sure on the temp, you might just consider getting a floating thermometer, and turn the heater dial accordingly until it reaches your desired temp.
