My 120 tank is cycled thru for my ray... but the old tanks ph is 6 and the new tanks ph is 7.8.... when can i move him in he really needs to get out of that old tank asap. so i hope u guys can help he is changing his behavior bc of his old tank is getting to small for him HELP!!!!!

I'd say thats the case. Small waterchanges on the old tank to get the ph the same or similar and then leave him for a bit and then transfer. If the water from the tap isnt meant to be 7.8 I would test again.

my tap is 7 but i dunno y my new tank is reading 7.6. the tank he is in now is 6.4 which is good so i am gonna try to get the new tank to read 6.5 so i can move him in

you have a whole list of ideas and suggestions from some of the best ray people on the site on your other thread you posted before this one .. no need to make more new threads .. the same people will respond .. and you should use the advice that was given in the other thread

yep.
Not to mention in his other thread people are telling him the best idea would be to slowly do waterchanges to the current tank to bring it to the same pH as tap and as the other tank. But he doesn't want to listen and instead wants to bring the pH of the other tank down to match the tank the ray is in now. :screwy:

You're making it harder on yourself then it really needs to be. Listen to the posts in your other thread and if you don't like the advice they are giving do whatever you would like to do. don't keep posting new threads hoping that someone will tell you what you would like to hear.

once again.... DAILY water changes on your 40 gallon until it is reading the same as tap!

ok got that now arent the daily water changes going to stress him out even more?...i am going to do prob half(2gal) the amount that i normaly take once a week(4gal)..but i was told(by aquarium store) that even doing my weekly water changes(which they said was to much) i am taking his benifical bact out of the tank?(should be done once a month?) and that is y my ph is messed up is this true?...i actully got the ph to go to 6.4 bc i didint feed him for a day. So i just want to do it right since i never had to do this b4 first time moving him.

rays thrive on waterchanges

get a bottle of prime and waterchange away. u can do a 25% waterchange in the morn and a 25% at night

your good bacteria is in your filter and not your water.

i dont know wht else to say... im not gonna start repeating myself

OMG, no..... you should be doing at least 50% a week. the bacteria is in your filter, not free flowing in the tank, do 25% of water changes daily, and if you are worried about stressing him out, keep the lights off in your tank
