so all today my dat was looking fine and healthy. I went to an aquarium store and was gone maybe an hr or two and came home to look at my dat lying on the bottom of the tank...he is stiff but still breathing so i netted him and his sitting in the net not able to move. he is still breathing but floats upside down without support. ive seen this happen before with another fish and i know he will die but does anyone know why this would happen? my ph is 7.5 and temp is 82, i read they can handle ph between 7.6-8.0 and temps from 80-86, is this correct?

What tankmates does he have?
Is he gasping for air?
Is he looking really bloated?

I would take him out of the net and just let him chill in the tank. Do water changes and add a little salt seems to help just about all problems. Possibly also add an airstone if you have any.

hes gone already...he wasnt gasping and he was in 40g byhimself and he was 3''. However, his mouth was stuck open and his face did look bloated. what could that mean?

if you can position him upright in front of a powerhead so he can get some flow it might help, but that's not easy to do. you have to place him close enough to get the flow, but far enough away that he doesn't float away in the current...

oops nvm didn't see your last post before sending this...sorry

wow that happened to one of my frontosas not too long ago... I would also like to know what happened.. one minute hes fine the next who knows.. im sorry for your loss

i dont get it man...he just couldnt swim and his mouth was stuck open with an inflamed face and it all happened within 1 hr or so...all my other fish are ok too i dont get it. Is there any reason for his bloated face?

it was either already sick or your waters not good.
