Help please, eheim leaking quite a bit

my 7 month old Eheim classic 2217 is leaking around the top rim, i cleaned the media again considering i opened it up already, the rubber o ring appears fine, closed it up and again its still leaking, i dont know what i should do, is it worth while to order a new o ring or is this common?? its the new year and i have about 5 gallons of water in my carpet

I would guess the Oring... What happened with my mag... they can go bad and still look okay...

oh well i'll buy another ring and hopefully no more water for the floor

Inspect the O ring closely and also where it sits. You should be able to see if there are any problems. A little lubricant is recommended in case it is rolling or getting pinched when closing. Your O ring shouldnt have failed or need to get replaced after just 7 months unless you have damaged it without realising.

well i reinspected the o ring, lubed it a little, reinstalled and tightened all my fittings, placed the filter in a 20 gal tank and started it up, so far no leaks, but im far from trusting it, i will post tomorrow with updates, thanks for the help
