HI all,
My female red devil, after 4 years of no problems whatsoever, suddenly appears to be in trouble. a week or so ago i noticed something white and fleshy on her dorsal fin. it looked like she might have just torn it up there, so i let it be. then yesterday i noticed her swimming mostly vertically oriented, and glancing off rocks. the glancing made me think parasites, and the messed up swimming makes me think it is something worse. the guy at my lfs suggested it is probably either a parasite of some type of internal infection, and recommended maracyn plus and metronidazole, both of which i have given. today the swimming seems a little better, but i've noticed a couple more small white growths just underneath her dorsal fin. I'm worried that she might be in real danger of not making it. her gills look fine, she doesn't seem to be strugging to get oxygen or anything, and is still acting aggressive toward tank mates, although because of whatever sickness she has she has not eaten in a few days. any ideas, suggestions, advice??? how bad does this sound? I am very worried, it would make me sick to lose this fish..any help would be greatly appreciated..thanks in advance

hey jeff, i cant tell what it is very well but you said youve treated with meds allready.

now all you can do is to do 20% water changes everyday until it goes away or something else happens..

some pics may help ID the problem but theres not much else that you can do if youve treated with meds apart from doing water changes daily.

thanks, i appreciate the quick reply. i just hope she's ok. i feel ridiculous, but i'm actually getting teary eyed over it. i'll do what i can and just hope for the best i guess
