Hey guys, I know im new but i could care less about intros right now. I need help BAD! I had a blood parrot fish in with my 4 1/2 inch Red Eared Slider. He would nip at the fish alot but he was never fast enough to catch the parrot. Apparentally he got fast enough. He caught my blood parrot, literally, by the lips. The top lip is pretty much gone and the bottome lip is (out of what i can make out) super swollen. It has to have happened within the last 3 days. I moved the parrot into my other tank which has a baby turtle, a rainbow shark, and a pearl gourami. He is massive compared to all of them, but he was only about half of Canaan's size. I have been putting the API Stress-Coat in there for about 2 days now. I know that it has aloe and it says to repair damaged skin and fins, but im not sure exactly how much good its gonna do.He is swimming fine, he seems to be attemptng to eat, probably with no luck, and he is breathing fast. Can someone please tell me what to do?! And is it safe to be putting the Stress-Coat in with the healthy turtle and fish??? Please answer quick guys! Its a matter of life and death!!!!

He needs a clean cycled tank, with low nitrates! Also a little aquarium salt (1tablespoon per 10gal) and some time and space.

Keep that water clean with fresh changes and let him be.

Take some bacteria from the cycled tank and put it on the filter for the tank he's currently in. Change 25% of the water each day and pick up some salt tomorrow and keep using the meds.

I know man. I feel terrible about it. Never really had issues with him and hurting fish, so i figured it would be ok.

I am gonna get a 10 gal. out tomorrow and set it up. I dont have a filter for it though. My old one died about a month ago. I will try to get some aquarium salt, but i really dont know when I will be able to. I hope tomorrow, but probably not. I will try though.

It sucks bad. I was about to go out and buy a new, bigger tank for the turtles too. What do you say about the filter? I do need one, but I probably cant get one yet. A bigger tank is priority at the time.

I have been watching him. He is swimming fine and acting like he used to. Who knows. I have noticed that a piece on the top of his fin seems to be gone. It doesnt look like it was bitten off or anything. It looks like its supposed to be like that.

Anyway, thanks for the help and if you have any other suggestions, I could really use them!

+1

Just take a filter off a cycled tank, put it on new tank, old tank should hopefully have enough bb on sub and decor. Or just put old dirty filter pad or bio media from seeded tank to new tank.

I might move the filter from my twenty over for a while. Would it be ok to do that? I have a 2 1/2 inch Pink Belly Sideneck in there. It is pretty algae covered. I have a UVB and heat lamp on there too, so it really doesnt help.
