Hi i am planning on doing a planted tank how many watts would be just right for plants? I have a coralife 2x65w 48'' compact flourcent light right now

Depends on the type of plants intended, and the actual depth of the tank. Is this a show 150, 48x24x30?

Don't even think of watts. It's a useless measurement.
For a good exampl, my 130 has a 220 watt fluorescent canopy. It grows plants pretty good. I'm switching to 80 watts of LED. Almost 1/3 the watts, but MUCH higher light.
What are you looking to grow?

Im looking for lights that can grow almost any plant. i already have a 2x65 watt should i get another light?

There are also some nice ones that have LED's built in as well.
You could also go with some LED lights but to get as much light as with a T5 it will cost you a fortune.

Actually, two 30 watt LED floodlights would cost about $160 bucks and get you better light than the T5's. Just depends on whether you like the look or not.

What does LED do just for show? i dont think i need anything fancy just another light to add on for some more power to grow plants

Halides will be obsolete in the aquarium hobby in 5 years.

That's the effect they give. Very similar to halides. Makes for a very natural sunlit appearance to a tank, but some poeple don't like the darker areas. Adding another unit or 2 will drastically decrease the amount of shaded area. I'll have 4 on my 6' tank. One of the dark areas will be right where I have a piece driftwood at the top of the water column, which should enhance the effect quite nicely.
