Hi everyone !
I've made alot of research in collaboration with many groups on facebook and it seems that i have a bacteria in my tank that looks a bit like Ich but it is not.
I have 8x discus and a stingray in the tank.
Water perimeters are perfect (25% water change every day and 50% every 3 days).

Ive crank the temperature up to 86F since a week now and i added 1 tablespoon of Fluval aquarium salt per 10 gallons.
My tank is 140 gallons and they have been in 280grams of salt since 5 days now and its still propaging.
Today i have talked with someone and got told i need to put way more salt.
Ive doubled the dosage today. Now its 1 tablespoon for every 5 gallons.
I've raid i should put up to 1 tablespoon for every 3 gallons to get rid of those bacteria.

I tried relocating him temporarily until im done with those bacteria but since we dont know if he is affected my contact wont take him.
I have no other choice than to treat with the stingray in the tank.
I am very stressed about this situation because i never had to put salt in my tank before and i've read meds should not be use with stingray unless in extreme case.

Can anyone please tell me how much salt my stingray can handle please ?

Thank you for reading me

I tbsp per 3g should be fine. Will have to keep with same amount of salt in tank for over 10 days or Atleast a week after the last spot has resolved. Increasing temps will increase the life cycle of ich so more spots is expected. Ray should be fine as long as the salt was added slowly. Make sure there’s movement of water with a pump. Additionally the spots seem to be isolate to the fins. Could be lymphocystis or broken finlets. Since you’ve already started treating, might as well finish the course. Didn’t see the spots, but they look like in the beginning so keep the salt and temperature.

Thank you for reading me. I will add salt up to 1tablespoon for every 3gallons and i keep in mind that i need to treat for 10 days after the last spot has been seen. That was my next questions, you read my mind hehe thank you again.

About lymphocystis i will go read right now about it and if my problem isnt resolve lets say in 3 weeks, i will update my post and will try treating for lymphocystis.

Have a good day mate :)

Hello !
I am updating.
I dosed salt up to 3 tablespoon for every 10 gallons, so its 840g of salt in the 140 gallons tank at all.
I saw some improvement on the blue one with the black stripes. Not completely healed yet but i would say at least 75% is healed.
The white spots on the yellow one are still there and i see there is more spots than before. Its at the exact same spot but on both sides now.
They are still eating well, stingray seems to be more relax but nothing to worry about. Water parameters are still very good im keeping up with the water changes.

Do you think i should use meds to treat the whitespots on the yellow one ?

I’d wait it out and give it time. Plus looking at the pics. Don’t look like ich. More like broken finlets imo.

Hello !
I am updating again.

The spots have gone and came back in differents forms but its not improving yet.
My stingray now has 2 white spots on him.
The white spots on the yellow discus are still there on both pectoral fins. He is not active as well, he stay in his corner alone except for feeding time. He is also peppering alot lately.
2 new spots that looks like salt have appeared on the discus with the black stripes on one of his pectoral fins and on the other side some white traces on the pectoral fin have appeared too.
I noticed a few days ago that my blue diamond discus is not eating and today with a close look i noticed there is one of his gill moving 90% less than the other one. He stays in his corner most of the time.
The discus are fast breathing from time to time but there is ALOT of surface agitation as well as 2x bubbler.
Parameters havent changed since last update i did.

Can i ask your opinion on this please ? I never experienced that kind of bacterias before having the discus and its been a month and a half since and still no improvements :(
Thank you very much for your help
