Help! Please!
I just lost my pet turtle! He's about 3 or 4 inches from head to tail. He was in his tank this morning but the water was filthy so I took him out and put him in a plastic bowl (mistake #1). I then took a rather flimsy fishtank divider (mistake #2) over it so he could breathe and HOPEFULLY not escape, then put a few weights on it. I left him sitting in the room (mistake #3), and figured I'd wait for my dad to get home and help me clean the tank since I can't do it by myself. I left the door open (mistake #4) and hung out on the computer for a while.
My friend called me so I went into the room and found that the weight fell into the bowl and the turtle was gone. We looked all over my room and the rest of the house but he's no where to be found.
So what should I do? Tell me everything! Where to look, what to avoid, how to turtle-proof, how to catch him, everything!
And please, I don't need to hear how stupid I am. I KNOW.
EDIT: Nevermind, I found him. He fell off the dresser and into my hamper. Idiot lol

If entered in panic every time some herp escaped I would be already in prozac
The good news is that I strongly beleave that your turt is ok and alive somewhere in your house (even if she is full of dust ). The first thing to do is to close the door of the room in wich she escaped(be very carefull when opening and closing doors because that is a classic place for turts to hide). Then tell everyboody to be extra carefull since there is a turtle on the run. If you have other pets that somehow may injure her make shure you keep them locked or restricted. Go carefully room by room in all of your house. Good places to look for: behind the refrigerator, closets, bathrooms, behind pillows, etc. Dont desesperate Ive lost turts for more than a mouth (in the garden) and most cases I look desesperatly for them just to fail miserably and one day in wich Im not even thinking about it, I raise my head just to found them basking happily under a bush or they even find there way back to the pond by themselfes. But this isnt to say you should stop looking for her just because its lunch time. You must find her at once. Whitout water and food she can deshidratate quickly. Dont surprise yourself if you find her very far from where she escaped, this guys can walk long distances
